Ronald M. Clowes, born on March 18, 1942, in Calgary, is a prominent Canadian geologist and geophysicist. He completed his Bachelor (1964), Master's (1965), and Ph.D. (1969) at the University of Alberta. After a postdoctoral position at the Australian National University, he joined the University of British Columbia as an Assistant Professor in 1970, becoming a full professor in 1983. Clowes has served as a director of the Canadian Lithoprobe Project since 1987, focusing on the lithosphere's structure using geophysical techniques. He has received numerous awards, including the J. Tuzo Wilson Medal in 1998.
