Ronald Cecil Hamlyn McKie was an Australian novelist and journalist, born on 11 December 1909 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and the University of Queensland. McKie worked as a journalist for various newspapers across Australia and Asia. He served in the Australian Imperial Force during World War II and later became a war correspondent. After the war, he continued his journalistic career with Sydney's Daily Telegraph until his death on 8 May 1991 from kidney disease.
