He served in the Ohio Senate as a representative of the 13th District from 1977 to 1982 and previously held the position of Lorain County Clerk of Courts. Nabakowski also worked as the Director of the Ohio Lottery. He passed away on June 10, 2016, at the age of 74 after battling Lou Gehrig's disease.
