Rosa Merckx (1924-2023) was the first female brewmaster and operations director in Belgium, known for her work at the Liefmans Oudenaarde brewery. She began her career in 1946 and became brewmaster in 1972. Under her leadership, the brewery played a pivotal role in Belgian beer culture, which was later recognized by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2016. The brewery itself has a long history, having been founded in 1679 in Oudenaarde, East Flanders.
