Rosemary Sutcliff (December 14, 1920 – July 23, 1992) was a renowned English novelist celebrated for her children's literature, particularly in the realms of historical fiction and mythology. Although primarily a children's author, her profound writing also appealed to adults. In a 1986 interview, she stated that she aimed her books at children of all ages, from nine to ninety. Some of her novels were specifically written for adult readers. She was a Hans Christian Andersen Medal laureate in 1974 for her contributions as a children's writer.
