Rosa Cecilia Paredes Jumbo was an Ecuadorian teacher, unionist, and political activist born in Guayaquil on May 2, 1952. She was a communist ideologue who was assassinated during Guillermo Rodríguez Lara's dictatorship on August 11, 1973. A member of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Ecuador, she became a heroine of her party and is recognized as a national symbol of the popular struggle against dictatorship. Her activism and commitment to education and labor rights left a lasting legacy in Ecuador.
