James Eugene 'Rosy' McHargue was an American jazz clarinetist and saxophonist known for his contributions to Chicago jazz, swing, and Dixieland. He learned piano and woodwinds from his mother and began his recording career in 1922. McHargue played with notable bands and musicians including the Seattle Harmony Kings, Ted Weems, and Benny Goodman, and led a band on the TV show Dixie Showboat. Later in life, he collaborated on the reconstruction of old jazz songs, recorded in the 1990s, and performed at jazz festivals.
