Rowena Farre, born Daphne Lois Macready on 26 February 1921, was a British writer known for her debut book 'Seal Morning' published in 1957. This autobiographical novel depicts her childhood experiences living on a remote Scottish croft with her aunt and various pets, including a seal. Despite its initial success, questions about its authenticity arose. Farre was a private person who vanished before her book's publication. Besides 'Seal Morning,' she wrote 'A Time from the World' and 'The Beckoning Land,' but neither achieved similar fame. She died on 9 January 1979.
