Ruben Khachaturi Manukyan was an Armenian athlete born on December 26, 1906, in Kamaris, Yerevan Province, then part of the Russian Empire. He passed away on August 24, 1978, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. Manukyan was a distinguished weightlifter and became a Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in 1942. He set world and USSR records in weightlifting, notably in the one-handed snatch event in 1937, and was a member of the national weightlifting federation and an all-Union level referee.
