Rüdiger Pohl is a German economist and emeritus professor of economics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He studied at the Free University of Berlin and earned his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Hanover. He served as a professor at FernUniversität in Hagen from 1977 to 1993 and was a member of various economic councils and institutions. His research focuses on monetary theory and policy as well as money and capital markets. Pohl retired on April 1, 2010, and has received notable awards including the Federal Cross of Merit.
