Rufus Taft Hussey (1919–1994) was an American marksman known for his exceptional skills with a slingshot, also called a beanshooter. He grew up in Randolph County, North Carolina, and became an expert in the practice. To preserve this fading art, Hussey began selling and gifting beanshooters in 1952, numbering them sequentially. His national recognition surged after appearing on 'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson' in January 1986, where he showcased his talent. Hussey was also featured in a CBS news segment that highlighted his and his brother's homemade beanshooters, earning him the titles 'Slingshot Expert' and 'the World's Most Accurate Slingshot Assassin.'
