Erik Rune Joelsson (1936-2009) was a Swedish meteorologist who began his career in 1960 after graduating in meteorology. He obtained the degree of Philosophiae candidate in 1967, became a weather forecaster in 1968, and served as the senior state meteorologist from 1971. Joelsson also appeared on television as a meteorologist from 1971. He gained public attention for his outspoken comments during a live broadcast in December 1981, voicing concerns about low salaries for meteorologists and lack of appreciation by employers.
