Ryszard Piotrowski was a Polish Major and resistance fighter during World War II, notably participating in the Warsaw Uprising against Nazi Germany. Captured afterward, he spent time in multiple POW camps. After the war, he became an economist while refusing to join the communist party, which led to significant personal losses. Married to Teodora Starostka, he had three children. Piotrowski was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2011 for his distinguished service. He passed away on June 2, 2016.
