Ryūshin Azuma was a Japanese scholar of Buddhist studies, born on December 20, 1935, and he passed away on May 17, 2022. He held a Doctorate in Literature and served as the head of Komazawa Women's University, where he was also honored as a professor emeritus. In addition to his academic pursuits, he was a priest in the Sōtō Zen tradition, leading Daijō-ji temple and specializing in the study of Sōtō Zen's founders, Eihei Dōgen and Dōgen's disciple, Nansen Fugan.
