Ryūshō Ōtani was a Japanese politician and religious leader, born on April 10, 1943. He served as the head priest of the Pure Land Sect's Zen Shōji temple and was a notable figure in local politics, being elected as a member of the Goka Town Council for one term and then as Goka Town Mayor for three consecutive terms from January 12, 1998, to April 30, 2007. He passed away on May 9, 2013, at the age of 70 due to bile duct cancer.
