S. I. Padmavati was an Indian physician and cardiologist, born on June 20, 1917, and passed away on August 29, 2020. She served as the current director of the National Heart Institute in New Delhi, where training in Preventive Cardiology is offered in collaboration with the World Health Organization. Padmavati was the founder and head of the All India Heart Foundation and was a fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. In 1954, she established North India's first cardiac clinic and cardiac catheterization laboratory, recognized as India's first female cardiologist. She chaired the World Congress of Cardiology in 1966.
