Satinder Kumar Sikka was an Indian nuclear condensed matter physicist and crystallographer who significantly contributed to India's nuclear program. He served as the Scientific Secretary to the Principal Scientific Advisor of the Government of India and was instrumental in the design and development of India's Hydrogen Bomb, tested in May 1998 during Operation Shakthi. He also participated in the Smiling Buddha tests of 1974 and received the Padma Shri award in 1999, recognizing his distinguished contributions to science.
