S.V. Chandrashekhar Aiya (1911–1992) was an Indian scientist and engineer notable for his mathematical demonstration of thunderstorms and lightning effects on RF signals used in television and radio broadcasting. He served as the second Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Communications Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science from 1959 to 1969. Aiya was also the first full-time director of the National Council of Educational Research and Training, contributing significantly to the field of engineering and education in India.
