Saad el-Shazly was an Egyptian military leader, born on April 1, 1922, and died on February 10, 2011. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces from May 16, 1971, to December 13, 1973, and was the founder of Egypt's first parachute division. Notably, he was instrumental in the successful Egyptian assault on the Israeli Bar Lev Line during the October War in 1973. After the war, he became an ambassador and opposed the Camp David Accords. His military career ended with political conflict, leading to his exile.
