He served as the head of the Iraqi General Intelligence Directorate and was the Director of Public Security from 1991 to 1996, later becoming an advisor to Saddam Hussein. He was arrested on February 27, 2005, and was one of the most wanted individuals in Iraq, ranked 36th on the list.
