Saburō Nanjō was a Japanese novelist and historical writer born on November 12, 1906, in Okayama City. His real name was Tokuo Yasui. He graduated from Waseda University in 1931 and worked as an editor for 'Elementary School Newspaper' and as a high school teacher. In 1939, he won the Chiba Kamio Prize for his novel 'Dan'un'. He serialized historical novels in local newspapers post-war, with his notable work 'Shōsetsu Honami Ichimon' published in the Tokyo Nichinichi Shimbun from 1957 to 1958. His son is the novelist Mikio Nanbara.
