Ayşe Saffet Rıza Alpar was an influential Turkish chemist and academic born on April 17, 1903. She made history as the first female university rector in Turkey and the second female chemist in the country. Raised in Germany after her father's death, she pursued her education in chemistry in Germany before returning to Turkey. Alpar began her academic career at Istanbul University, became a full professor, and later served at Karadeniz Technical University. Notably, she was a member of the Nationalist Movement Party after retiring, and she passed away on February 1, 1981.
