She moved to Tokyo to join the literary scene and was a member of the Arcueil Club. Sagawa began her career with translations, including works by James Joyce and Virginia Woolf, while her own poetry was first published in the early 1930s. Despite her brief life, ending at 24 due to stomach cancer, her contributions to Japanese poetry remain significant, with her works included in several notable anthologies.
