Sahib Shihab, born Edmund Gregory, was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist, known for his significant contributions to jazz music. He began his professional career at the age of thirteen, performing with pianist Luther Henderson, and later studied at the Boston Conservatory. Shihab played with Fletcher Henderson's band from 1944-1945 and converted to Islam in 1947, changing his name from Eddie Gregory to Sahib Shihab. Over his career, he collaborated with prominent musicians like John Coltrane, Randy Weston, Art Blakey, Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Donald Byrd.
