Sahir Lakhnavi, born Syed Qaim Mehdi Naqvi on September 6, 1931, was a prominent Pakistani Urdu poet, recognized as the last marsiya writer of the 20th century in Pakistan. His literary contributions include gazals, nazms, and particularly marsiya and qasida. Over his career, he authored twenty books covering diverse topics such as linguistics, history, poetry, and theology. Despite his heritage in Persian literature, he primarily focused on Urdu. He faced challenges in his education but ultimately achieved a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws.
