Saïd Amir Arjomand is an Iranian-American scholar recognized for his contributions to sociology. He serves as a Distinguished Service Professor at Stony Brook University and directs the Stony Brook Institute for Global Studies. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1980, he became influential in the study of Persianate societies, founding the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies and serving as the founding editor of the Journal of Persianate Studies.
