Samuel Wallace Wheeler, Jr., known as 'Boom Boom', was an American basketball player and Negro league baseball outfielder. He played professionally for the Harlem Globetrotters and Harlem Magicians and was a standout in basketball at Dunbar High School and Philander Smith College. In baseball, he made an impactful debut with the New York Cubans in 1948, hitting a grand slam in his first game. He was married to educator Betty McNeal and passed away in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 65.
