Sam Colson, born Samuel Linn Colson on March 24, 1951, in Beloit, Kansas, is a former American javelin thrower. He won a gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City and finished fifth at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. Colson was also the US Champion in 1974 and claimed the NCAA Championship in 1973 while representing the University of Kansas. His personal best throw of 88.65 meters was achieved on March 24, 1973, in Tuscaloosa.
