He previously held the position of Thurston County Auditor and was involved in significant electoral reforms, including the introduction of the Top 2 Primary system. A graduate of Washington State University, Reed is also active in various organizations, including the National Association of Secretaries of State. He resides in Olympia with his wife, Margie, and has two children.
