Samarendra Kundu was an Indian politician who served as the Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in India. Born on October 5, 1930, he was elected to the 4th Lok Sabha from Balasore, Orissa in 1967, and was re-elected in 1977 and 1989. A member of the Janata Dal party, Kundu was imprisoned during the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977 under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). His political career was marked by significant contributions to Indian politics during turbulent times.
