Ndungu finished second in the Nagoya Half Marathon in 2008, fourth in the Sapporo Half Marathon in 2009, and third again in Nagoya. He claimed victories in the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon in 2011 and the Biwa Lake Marathon in 2012, and was the runner-up at the Lisbon Marathon in 2019.
