Sananta Tanty was a renowned Assamese poet who emerged in the 1970s. Born into an Oriya labor family in the tea gardens of Kaliangar, Assam, he produced significant poetry in Assamese after receiving education in Bengali. Throughout his career, he received several awards and, notably, won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2018 for his poetry collection 'Kailoir Dinto Amar Hob'. He passed away at the age of 69 on November 25, 2021, after battling a long illness.
