Sangarapillai Sivathasan (1934-2011) was a prominent Sri Lankan political activist known for his involvement with the Ceylon Communist Party and later the Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist). Active in politics from the 1950s, he served as a Provincial Council Member and was elected twice as a Member of Parliament for Jaffna. Sivathasan was detained by the LTTE in 1986 and survived a bomb blast in 2006 while chairing the Palmyrah Development Board.
