Santanu Bhattacharya is an Indian chemist and a professor at the Indian Institute of Science. His research primarily focuses on amino acids, cyclic peptides, and biologically active natural products. Bhattacharya is a distinguished fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the World Academy of Sciences, and the Indian National Science Academy. He received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 2003 and the National Biotechnology Award in 2002, along with the TWAS Prize in 2010. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Tirupati.
