Santino Parpinelli was a Brazilian conductor and violinist, born in São Paulo on November 1, 1912. He was the eldest of 12 siblings and the son of Italian conductor and double bassist Domingos Parpinelli. He graduated in violin, chamber music, harmony, and music pedagogy in 1938. Parpinelli composed significant classical pieces blending Brazilian music with classical styles. He was a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and led the renowned Brazilian Strings Quartet for over 50 years. He was also an illustrator and painter. He passed away on October 17, 1991.
