The eldest daughter of the final Saopha of Yawnghwe, Sao Shwe Thaik, she worked as a journalist for Reuters. Alongside her husband, Peter Simms, she coauthored several books. Her notable publication, 'The Moon Princess: Memories of the Shan States', reflects on a turbulent era in Burmese history, detailing her personal experiences and her father's legacy as the first president of the Union of Burma after independence.
