Sara Annette Joyner is a pioneering United States Navy officer born in 1967. She holds the distinction of being the first female strike fighter pilot to command a Navy fighter squadron as well as a carrier air wing. Joyner's impressive career includes her promotion to rear admiral (lower half) authorized on May 25, 2017. She was later promoted to rear admiral (upper half) on April 1, 2021, and to vice admiral on June 3, 2022, marking significant milestones in her military service.
