She studied journalism at Complutense University in Madrid and started her career as an intern at Radio Marca. In 2007, she began working at La Sexta covering various sports events. In 2009, she joined Telecinco as a sports editor and presenter, covering events such as the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. Carbonero gained international fame for her relationship with Spanish football goalkeeper Iker Casillas, especially during the 2010 World Cup.
