She debuted in 2000 with her poetry collection 'Svimmel' and has since published 'Brytningsanomaliene' in 2008 and 'Retiro' in 2011. Selmer holds a degree in literature from the University of Oslo, where she wrote her thesis on Juan Rulfo's 'Pedro Páramo'. Additionally, she has worked as a book reviewer, publisher consultant, translator, and teacher.
