Sarkis Hatspanian was a Turkish Armenian journalist, human rights defender, and politician, born on February 12, 1962, in İskəndərun, Turkey. He was notable for his activism during the Nagorno-Karabakh War, especially in the battles around Kelbajar. Hatspanian led efforts to deliver various forms of aid from Armenians in France to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. In 2008, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Armenian court for his involvement in mass protests that took place in Yerevan.
