Satoru Izumi was a Japanese religious leader and politician, born on May 18, 1912, and passed away on May 7, 2005. He served as the 4th president of the Soka Gakkai and was a member of the House of Councillors for one term. Izumi was a military officer during World War II, and after surviving combat in New Guinea, he returned to Japan in 1946. He played a significant role in the reconstruction of Soka Gakkai alongside other leaders under Josei Toda's guidance, eventually becoming a prominent figure in the organization.
