She served as a member of the House of Representatives for Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2011 after previously advising the governor's wife in 2003. Sani was appointed as Senior Special Assistant on MDGs by President Goodluck Jonathan, and she also held the position of board chairman for the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority. She founded the Women and Youth Development Centre in Lere/Saminaka.
