He gained prominence in the 1980s for his work in mixing dub music. Scientist is recognized as a protégé of the renowned King Tubby (Osbourne Ruddock) and associated with other influential figures in the genre who worked at King Tubby's studio during the 1970s, including Bunny Lee, Philip Smart, Pat Kelly, and Prince Jammy.
