Seán 'ac Dhonncha was a prominent traditional Irish singer born on October 2, 1919, in Carna, County Galway. He trained as a primary teacher, teaching in County Cavan and serving as principal of Ahascragh national school. As the first traditional singer to record with Gael Linn, he gained recognition for his work, including a gold medal at the 1953 Oireachtas. His albums include 'An Aill Báin' and a 1994 CD of his songs. He was married to Bríd Ní Eidhn and had five children.
