Sebastià Serrano Farrera is a linguist and professor specializing in communication theory and linguistics, born in 1944 in Bellvís, Pla d'Urgell. He studied mathematics and philology at the University of Barcelona, where he earned his doctorate with a thesis on mathematical linguistics. A full professor at the same university, he taught the first courses in general semantics and mathematical linguistics in Spain in 1969. His research encompasses semiotics, general linguistics, poetics, philosophy, science theory, and especially communication theory, focusing on non-verbal communication's impact on human relationships. He received the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2003.
