He was ordained in 1955 and graduated in geology between 1958 and 1961, earning his doctorate at the University of Barcelona in 1975. He has held various educational leadership roles while conducting paleontological research, particularly in Cretaceous brachiopods, which was the focus of his thesis. He has described 18 new species and two new genera and published over a hundred works.
