Sebastian Newbold Coe, Baron Coe CH KBE, born on September 29, 1956, in London, is a former British athlete and Conservative Party member. He served as the chairman of the organizing committee for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Throughout his athletic career, Coe won four Olympic medals, including two golds and two silvers. He set eight outdoor and three indoor world records in middle-distance running, and he still holds the European record in the 1000 meters, which he achieved on July 11, 1981, in Oslo. He is often referred to as Lord Coe.
