Sebastião Alves do Nascimento was a Brazilian farmer and politician from Minas Gerais, born on December 13, 1919. Known as Binga, he moved to Patos de Minas in 1942 and was elected mayor in 1958, where he initiated the National Corn Festival in 1959. He later served as a state deputy, being re-elected three times. He was married to Celsa and had four daughters, one of whom, Nilda Iris Vaz Borges, was one of Brazil's first female politicians.
