Seikō Hirata (August 26, 1924 - January 9, 2008) was a Zen monk and served as the head of the Tenryū-ji Temple and the former abbot of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. He was also an honorary professor at Hanazono University. Hirata played a significant role in promoting Zen teachings and contributed to the spiritual community throughout his life.
