Seimei Matsuo is a Japanese poet and Zen monk, born on March 3, 1940, in Hiroshima. He has received several prestigious awards for his poetic works, including the 33rd Oguma Hideo Prize in 2000 for 'Hill', the 34th Japanese Poet Club Prize in 2001 for 'Urban Field', and the 19th Tomita Saka Prize in 2008 for 'In the Garden of the Earth'. Additionally, he has served as the president of the Hiroshima Prefecture Poetry Association and has authored works related to Buddhism.
